The Laadli Youth Fest was organised in 30 colleges across Mumbai in which creative competitions were held. The theme was 'Images- The girl child'. The objective was to allow youth to give creative expression to their perceptions about the girl child and allowed us to delve into their mindsets. The competitions included essay, short story and slogan writing, poster design, photography, jingle making, short filmmaking and street plays. The competitions were announced in August 2005 and the last date for submitting entries was November 2005. The awards were declared at a function at K.C. College's Rama Watumull Auditorium, Churchgate on December 13, 2005. Actress Tanuja and author-columnist Shobhaa De were the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
