Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh to present awards

Population First organises the Northern and Eastern regional UNFPA-Laadli Media Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2009-10 on April 12, 2010 in Bhopal. The awards ceremony will be held at Samanway Bhavan, Bhopal with the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the Chief Guest. Renowned danseuse Geeta Chandran will perform 'Devi' a ballet on the double standards that women in our society are a victim of. On one hand they are hailed as Goddesses, while on the other hand, in reality they are robbed of any identity.

The winners have been chosen by an extremely accomplished jury including Abhilash Khandekar, Annu Anand, Farhat Ehsas, Mike Pandey, N.K.Singh, Nirmala Buch, O.R. Niazi, Pushpendra Pal Singh and Raji P. Shrivastava. We received close to 300 hundred entries from both the regions and are really enthused by the response.

The awards are for gender sensitivity in the following categories:
Print
TV
Radio
OOH
Web and
Advertising

The regional awards will culminate in the National Awards to be held in New Delhi in May 2010.

In October 2009, Population First announced the 2nd edition of the Laadli Media Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2009-10, supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The Western and Southern regional awards were held in December 2009- on 9th and 17th respectively. Close to 40 awards have already been given out in these two regions.
