Population First, under its girl child campaign, Laadli, is organising a Consultative Meeting of high-level officials from the state health department, BMC, NGOs, medical associations and educational institutions on the topic: 'SOS to Stop Sex Selection'. This is a part of the ward-level activities of the Laadli

campaign, which has been addressing the issue of the falling sex ratio since June 2005.

At the meeting, specific action points for each stakeholder group would be discussed, and the resources and means to achieve these would be shared. We at Population First, think that there is a need to review the past experiences and formulate a new strategy together with NGOs, civil society organizations and concerned government agencies in view of the current challenges.

The meeting is on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 10 am at the Convention Hall, Y.B. Chavan Centre, Nariman Point, Mumbai.

Ms. Vandana Krishna, Secretary, Family Welfare, Govt. of Maharashtra and Mr. V.S. Singh, Secretary, Women & Child Development, Govt. of Maharashtra have agreed to be present as Panel Guests.

Please call on 91 22 2262 6672/6 for details.
