One of the first activities to taken up by
Population First was to organised a networking workshop
on 28 August 2003. 
The NGO networking workshop was an opportunity to introduce
the project and also get to know other agencies and
departments working on health and development issues
in Shahapur.
The Chief Executive Officer, Thane District, Shri Nirmal
Kumar Deshmukh, Regional Director of UNFPA Dr. Prakash
Deo, officials of the health department, Zilla Parishad
members and representatives of 18 NGOs have attended
the event.
