The steady decline in the sex ratio shows that the law is being flouted with impunity. Effective implementation of the law is possible only when the community stops seeing sex selection as a private matter, and instead, condemns it as a crime.

A network of around 60 NGOs is formed with whom we have been working closely under Laadli to address the issue at the community level. Giants International and the Rotary Club of Mumbai have adopted the issue of the girl child as their theme.  

Laadli Ganeshotsav celebrations were organised at the community level in 2005 and 2006. More than two lac people were reached directly during these festivities with the message and around 250 street plays and puppet shows were performed at various venues.
